The development of ABEM Terraloc Pro has been driven by user demands for over 30 years and has taken it through three major product generations (Mk3, Mk6 and Mk8) to reach the point where it is today – the most powerful ABEM seismic solution ever.
While the ABEM Terraloc Pro is designed for the broadest possible range of seismic applications, it focus is near surface geophysics (a.k.a NSG), which is also the most demanding application for seismic instruments.
The ABEM Terraloc Pro is designed for the broadest possible range of seismic applications, from micro-seismic investigations of concrete structures to measuring the properties and thickness of the earth’s crust. While it is capable of delivering outstanding data across this broad spectrum of applications, the true strength behind the ABEM Terraloc Pro lies in its optimization for the most demanding of seismic investigations – near surface geophysics.
From extreme heat and the corrosive environment of volcanoes to sub-zero arctic temperatures, seismic investigations pose the most demanding conditions for both operators and instruments. In addition to designing the rugged casing and weatherproof connectors to withstand exposure to these harsh conditions and to meet the requirement of the IEC IP 66 standard, the ABEM Terraloc Pro incorporates subtle features – like buttons that are easy-to-operate while using gloves and Sunlight Readable LCD monitors – that enhance field operation.
Equipped with an internal rechargeable NiMH battery and designed using low-power consumption technology, the ABEM Terraloc Pro is ready for extended periods of field operation. Right-sized for portability and configurable with cables and sensors for any type of seismic survey – land, marine or borehole based – the ABEM Terraloc Pro is positioned as a compact standalone seismic solution. To complete this standalone paradigm, the ABEM Terraloc Pro comes with a powerful built-in field PC running Windows XP Professional – allowing the operator to perform complex data processing and interpretations in the field. When required, the integrated PC and its associated communication ports allow the ABEM Terraloc Pro to connect to peripheral such as keyboards, printers and monitors.
The ABEM Terraloc Pro is available in configurations of 12, 24 and 48 channels and accepts input from all types of seismic sensors. The input channels have been designed for the highest possible data quality and resolution. With its 24-bit sigma-delta ADC (analog-to-digital converter), the ABEM Terraloc Pro is capable of a dynamic range in excess of 140dB and a bandwidth stretching from DC to 20kHz. It also has a record length of 480K samples, making it possible to record data continuously for up to 80 minutes. Having options for input range and gain ensures that maximum data resolution is achieved regardless the type of input – refraction with a sledgehammer or marine seismic using a powerful air gun.
Full networkability using standard TCP-IP protocol, the ABEM Terraloc Pro can be installed in the field and managed remotely over a LAN or the Internet – reducing expensive fieldwork.
In addition to providing a remote monitoring service, the ABEM Terraloc Pro supports remote system upgrades as well as remote diagnostics and support from the ABEM service center.
The ABEM Terraloc Pro has been architected for extensibility so that you can incrementally add functionality to match your project requirements. By right-sizing the functionality of the ABEM Terraloc Pro, you are able to make the appropriate investment when needed and maximize your return on investment – progressively adding value without adding unnecessary overhead.
